  1. Amazingly, the building still stands, although part of the wall that sticks out, under the "G" (this is the side of the building) has been chopped off. Now it's Impress Motors, a used car lot.

  2. Opened in 1955, operated by president Ken Nowling and his brother Russ, secretary of the dealership. "At the foot of the (60-foot) Rocket Tower".

  3. Directly across the street is the world famous former Harvey's Broiler, or whats left of it. Bob's Broiler is a reincarnation after the partial demo of Harvey's/Johnie's.

  4. Big Boy is a while other topic that is very interesting. Elias Bros was my local franchise. Shoneys split off was no longer affiliated.

  5. How do you guys do that? Always interesting vis a vis current building usage and history.

Harveys/Johnys Broiler is indeed interesting from what little I know. As is 'Big Boy'. They were Kips in the Tulsa area. Shoneys morphed out of Sambos here when the original name became too non-PC...at least they went into Sambos locations.

  6. I remember Shoneys as a Big Boy on trips to Tennessee as a kid. Then they went solo and we got one up here in Michigan. They located in an area that had a lot of transplants from the south. It didnt last very long. Probably because of Elias Bros dominance of the area.
