According to Jim Soutar's (1918-2010) obit, he was born in Luverne, Minnesota (!), moved to Barstow in April, 1962, and bought the former Charles Kail Chrysler-Plymouth. Soutar had many pursuits including amateur radio and snow skiing, and was a licensed pilot, once owning two airplanes. He was such an accomplished skier that he acted as a stunt double for the actor Bob Cummings in the 1949 film, "Tell It To The Judge".
