Kelly Chrysler Plymouth

  1. What an incredible vintage shot! Seeing that unmistakable high-mounted wing of the Superbird sitting at a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership really puts the 1970s Muscle Car craze into perspective. It wasn't just a car; it was a homologation special designed for one thing only: dominating the NASCAR superspeedways.

Most people recognize the wing and the nose cone, but few realize the incredible engineering struggles and the "aero-wars" that forced Plymouth to create such an extreme machine. I've spent some time analyzing the history and the technical specs of this winged warrior, including how it was actually received by the public back then, in my tribute to the Plymouth Road Runner Superbird.

Thanks for sharing this slice of Americana! It’s rare to find photos that capture the Superbird in such an everyday dealership setting.
